Alcaraz Keeps Battling

Carlos Alcaraz barely survived his first-round encounter with Jan-Lennard Struff as the German produced a superb effort to give Alcaraz all he can handle. Struff really played a fabulous match but one point in the 4th set tiebreak changed everything.

Alcaraz was down 0-2 and losing the point when he created magic to win it. It shifted the momentum of the tiebreak which he won 7-3. He would go on to win the match in the 5th set but had he lost that point Struff would have been up 3-0 and that would be over.

It was a superb effort that lasted four hours and saw Alcaraz play really well. He hit 30 aces which is a lot for him attacking and defending well. The only reason this went to 5 is because Struff was incredible as well.

Overall it was a strong showing from Alcaraz but it remains to be seen how his elbow handles the four-hour battle.

Griekspoor Remains Calm Amidst Fognini Storm

Tallon Griekspoor had his first Fabio Fognini experience and it proved the full one. The Italian played super well in the opening set taking it comfortably. Griekspoor came back to win the 2nd set and from there Fognini imploded in his typical fashion.

It was a strong win for Griekspoor as he’s fairly new to the ATP tour. He made his big break last year on the Challenger Tour but he certainly is proving everybody wrong so far this year. A 17-14 is more than respectable for his first ATP tour season.

His game works well on grass because he serves well and has solid groundstrokes. He’s not the most talented player but he can certainly be tough to beat on his day.

The win certainly gave him confidence and Alcaraz saw in the first round, you never know what can happen at Wimbledon. The key will be in the serve as Tallon lost only 12 points behind his first serve.

Alcaraz v Griekspoor Prediction and Tip

So obviously Alcaraz is the better player and he should win this match. However, the serve of Griekspoor is good enough to seal a set and if Alcaraz is not careful he could deal with another Struff. Don’t expect the Dutch player to fold easily here although I do think he will lose.

I can’t back any player that is not in the top 10 against Alcaraz. This kid is destined for greatness.

Tip: Alcaraz to win in straight sets: 13/10 (Click Here to Bet with bet365)
