Filip Krajinovic v Nick Kyrgios Head to Head

The pair have played each other once before on the senior tour on the clay of Estoril in 2105, Kyrgios winning in straight sets.

There have also been two meetings on the Challenger tour, one of which was on the grass of Nottingham back in 2014, and the Australian won both those matches as well.

Krajinovic Survives Five Setter

Like Kyrgios, Krajinovic needed to go to five sets to book his place in the second round. In his case the obstacle which needed to be overcome was the Czech world number 72, Jiri Lehecka.

The first set was largely dominated by serve, up until the moment Krajinovic dropped his and gifted the set to his opponent.

He went a break down early in the second set, but responded with two breaks of his own, and went on to level the match.

The Serb broke early in the third set, then trailed by a break before it eventually went to a tie-break, which the Czech claimed.

Both men had break opportunities in the fourth set, but a dropped service game apiece meant another tie-break. This time Krajinovic would win it.

Again the pair swapped service breaks in the fifth set, but the decisive moment came when Lehecka dropped his serve again. Finally, after nearly four hours on court, Krajinovic could celebrate the win.

Kyrgios Narrowly Escapes First Round Upset

Kyrgios is still in the Wimbledon Championship having avoided a shock first round defeat to the British wildcard, Paul Jubb, the world number 219.

But it was a lot closer than the Australian would have liked, or anticipated.

The first set went with serve until Kyrgios dropped his allowing Jubb to take advantage. However, Kyrgios took the second set for the loss of one game, and, at that stage, it look like the natural order was reasserting itself.

And when one break of serve was enough to give the Australian the third set as well, that seemed even more the case.

However, Jubb, roared on by the British crowd, was not finished yet. He stayed on the heels of Kyrgios throughout the fourth set and, when it went to a tie-break, it was he who went on to claim it.

When Jubb was broken early in the fifth set it seemed like the Australian had finally got his man. However, he was broken in turn, and briefly the British player was imagining the headlines.

But, serving to stay in the match he offered up a match point which was saved. Unfortunately for him, when a second one arrived moments later. Kyrgios did not let him off the hook.

Krajinovic v Kyrgios Prediction and Tip

Both men were made to work very hard for their place in the second round, but Kyrgios has won each time they have met in the past, and will believe he can do so again.

Tip: Kyrgios to win: 5/7 (Click Here to Bet with bet365)
