Jabeur in Red Hot Form
Ons Jabeur, newly-crowned World No. 2, continues to make waves on the tour with her ongoing stint in Wimbledon.
She is now 33-9 spread across four tour finals this season – she won the title in Madrid and most recently, Berlin. In these tournaments, Ons had the pleasure of beating several well-known stars like Belinda Bencic, Coco Gauff, Maria Sakkari, and Simona Halep.
Having displayed exceptional consistency and form across the three surfaces, it was only a matter of time before Jabuer found her way to a Grand Slam too.
She is yet to drop a set, beating Mirjam Björklund, Katarzyna Kawa, and Diane Parry without breaking a sweat. In fact, the 28-year-old lost just 13 games. With this kind of form and a fondness for the turf, Jabeur is on a brilliant trajectory.

Mertens Upsets Kerber
Elise Mertens has made it to the round of 16 in London – only for the second time in her career. On the doubles side of things, she won the tournament last season while this time around, she has a chance of doing some noticeable in the singles draw too.
Her campaign entailed wobbly three-setters against inexperienced/rising players like Camila Osorio and Panna Udvardy. Having survived those, the doubles world number one moved her attention to Angelique Kerber.
A former world number one and former Wimbledon champion, Kerber was the favourite heading into the match. However, the 15th seed was stunned as Elise won 6-4, 7-5 in under 90 minutes. She got through on the back of low unforced errors (14 to Kerber’s 26) and a disciplined, well-executed approach.
Mertens also made it this far in the last two majors but couldn’t go further. Her singles season hasn’t been half as impressive as Jabeur’s but she does have enough of a doubles pedigree to counter.
Jabeur v Mertens Prediction and Tip
Jabeur is the heavy favourite here but the chances of an upset – although slim – are there. Mertens can be threatening and may put up some resistance. Expect a good, entertaining match.
