After having a substandard season in 2021, 21 year old Cocciaretto decided to play ITF tournaments this year to find her best level and gain confidence.
It does seem her decision paid off as she is currently on 24-7 record on clay this year. She recently reached the final of WTA Makarska where she lost to Jule Niemeier.
Her highlights at the ITF level include winning the Grado ITF tournament and Oeiras 2 ITF, both on clay.
The Italian youngster is a very talented player and with her stellar record this year, she will hope to avenge her first round loss in last year in this same tournament.

Jani Counting on her Recent Form and Home Support
Jani is among the several Hungarian players in the draw. She reached the second round last year where she lost to 2022 Australian Open runner up Danielle Collins.
The Hungarian has already had a very long season playing 58 matches. She has a 38-20 record on all surfaces this year and 32-15 on clay.
Jani has mostly played ITF level tournaments this year, but has found some good results in a couple of big tournaments in the last two months. She reached the main draw of French Open as a lucky loser and the quarterfinals of the WTA Valencia.
The 30 year old is a gritty player and playing at home will have the crowd behind her.
