Laslo Djere v Lorenzo Musetti Head to Head

Clay has always been Djere’s favourite surface and will be hoping it comes to his rescue in turning things around. Because on grass, Djere did not have the best of times.
The Serb played four matches spread across three grass court tournaments in the lead-up to this one in Bastad and won just one match. And even that victory was down to Henri Squire, his opponent retiring in the first set with the score at 4-3.
At least on clay, Djere has done a lot better than that before heading into the grass swing.
He had reached the semifinal of the Marrakesh Open – having also defeated Musetti in the quarters there – and backed it up with three successive second round appearances in the next three competitions on that surface.

Musetti on a Five-Match Losing Streak
If things for Djere haven’t been the best, it’s been worse for Musetti. The Italian looked to be doing well enough when he reached the third round of the Madrid Masters following a victory over Sebastian Korda but life hasn’t been the same after that.
Musetti lost that third round match to Alexander Zverev, forced to retire due to an injury and then went down to Stefanos Tsitsipas after that.
And the tournaments on grass, three of them, led to Musetti lose three successive matches in the opening round, leaving a few question-marks around his form and fitness.
The only silver lining was his performance at the Forli Challenger – also on clay – which he went on to win in early June.
Can he replicate that form here at Bastad against an opponent who can hold his own on this surface?
