Trevisan Enjoying her Run
Despite being a clay court specialist, World No. 26 Martina Trevisan is having a good time here on the hard courts in Budapest.
In the opener, she knocked out the local favourite Natália Szabanin 2-6, 6-2, 6-0, and followed it with a straight-set win over Kateryna Kozlova.
This also serves as a good primer for the Italian, considering that the upcoming tournaments are all hard-court events with a lot at stake.
Trevisan is 22-13 in 2022, with 10 of those wins coming consecutively across the Rabat Open (where she won her maiden WTA title) and the French Open. In the latter, she posted her best Grand Slam results by reaching the semifinal.
Martina had to settle for early exits in all other tournaments this season. Nonetheless, she has made quite a leap in the rankings – starting the year outside the top 100, and now, she is a part of the top 30.

Bondar has the Home Advantage
Anna Bondar, age 25, is now carrying the hopes of a nation being the sole Hungarian left in the field.
Her journey so far has seen her post victories over Jesika Malečková and Despina Papamichail in straight sets; this also marks her fourth WTA quarterfinal on the tour.
Like Trevisan, Bondar too has a strong preference for clay courts. 16 of her 21 ITF finals have come on this surface – in addition to her sole WTA 125 title in Buenos Aires.
Most recently, Anna was a semifinalist in the Contrexeville Challenger and WTA Rabat. Between these two results, the current World No. 53 lost her opening-round bouts in the French Open, WTA Bad Homburg, and Wimbledon. Her tally now is 24-16.
Trevisan v Bondar Prediction and Tip
This will be an interesting match. Trevisan is the odds-on favourite, but her inconsistency on hard courts may prove to be her downfall. Being the local favourite, Bondar will certainly fancy her chances to reach the semis.
Both players have a similar pedigree against the top 10 players; to some extent, they are on even grounds in this fixture.
