Yulia Putintseva v Aleksandra Krunic Head to Head

It is an advantage to Putintseva with 2-0; she last beat Krunic in the 2015 French Open in three sets.

Putintseva Moves Past Tsurenko

Yulia Putintseva, seeded number three, has done well to make it to the final four as the defending champion in Budapest.

In the opener, she moved past Anna Karolina Schmiedlova 6-4, 6-1, and followed it with a three-set win over Laura Pigossi. In the quarterfinal, she played Lesia Tsurenko and benefited from the Ukrainian’s walkover; Tsurenko retired trailing 0-6 in the second set, citing fitness concerns.

This is Kazakh’s first semifinal since the Istanbul Cup earlier this year. Since then, Yulia posted some impressive results – notably by reaching the third round in Rome as a qualifier (upsetting Garbine Muguruza en route) and in Eastbourne International.

Putintseva is the current World No. 32; her year now stands at 20-12. Armed with five WTA finals and 12 on the ITF circuit, she will look to add another title to her tally.

Krunic Tames Wang

Aleksandra Krunic has been a class apart this week in the tournament, and if she maintains the same rhythm, there is no reason why she cannot go the distance.

In the first round, she defeated Laura Siegemund 6-3, 6-4 and followed it with a 6-1, 6-0 rout of the Chinese veteran Shuai Zhang. In the quarterfinal, she handed Xiyu Wang a similar defeat – losing just one game in the process.

These wins have improved the Serbian’s year-to-date tally to 13-16 and brought her closer to her first singles final since 2018 June.

Krunic has had a largely uneventful year, losing mainly in the early rounds. In fact, up until now, the 29-year-old had never made it past round two in any tournament.

That said, she did do well on the doubles circuit by clinching the Eastbourne International title with Magda Linette.

Putintseva v Krunic Prediction and Tip

Putintseva is the favourite, but Krunic can make things quite difficult for her. However, the current World No. 105 will need to significantly up her game if she intends to do that.

Expect an entertaining affair that should not be completely one-sided.

Tip: Putintseva to Win, Over 20.5 Games: 11/8 (Click Here to Bet with bet365)
