Anastasia Potapova v Olga Danilovic Head to Head
The two players are evenly tied at 1-1; they last met in the 2018 WTA Tashkent, where Potapova won in straight sets.

21-year-old Anastasia Potapova made her way to the semifinal in Lausanne after beating the rising German sensation Jule Niemeier 6-4, 6-2. In the previous round, the youngster defeated the number three seed Irina-Camelia Begu with the exact same score.
These wins also mark a positive improvement in her form since her first-round win over Lucia Bronzetti. That match went on to three sets and saw the current World No. 79 win with 2-6, 6-3, 4-6.
Potapova is now 21-14 and a step closer to her second WTA final of the season. Her last such feat was in Istanbul, where she went the distance to lift her maiden singles title after beating Veronika Kudermetova in the final. The fact that Anastasia is again playing on clay should only help her case.
As a doubles champion in 2019, she also has some history in the tournament – which she will hope to make the most of.

Danilovic in a Rare Semifinal
Olga Danilovic, currently ranked #124, is inching closer to her first singles final since the July 2018 WTA Moscow. After dismissing Potapova in the final, she won that tournament but has not managed a similar feat since.
The Serbian has had a slow year so far as she commenced the 2022 tour only in May. She has been smart about her appearances as she slowly builds her form by competing in low-tier events.
Before the Ladies Lausanne Open, her previous best result was in the French Open, where she made it as far as round two as a qualifier.
Since then, Olga has featured in three Challenger tournaments – all on clay – but never made it past the opening few matches.
In Lausanne, Danilovic started in the qualifying rounds and dismissed Joanne Zuger and Anastasia Zakharova in the prelims. In the main draw, she knocked out Misaki Doi and Anna Kalinskaya before running into the Swiss sensation Simona Waltert.
It was quite a match with Waltert as Danilovic fought hard to win 6-4, 4-6, 7-6(5).
Potapova v Danilovic Prediction and Tip
This match can swing either way, and we may be looking at a long affair.
Potapova’s pedigree is much stronger, but Danilovic looks quite sharp right now. An upset is certainly on the cards from the qualifier’s hands.
