Fabio Fognini v Aljaz Bedene Head to Head
Fognini dominated against him in the past winning 10 of 11 matches they played. Most recent one in Belgrade was easily won by Fognini.

Fabio Fognini is not having a very good year as his usual woes of playing up and down tennis has been more down tennis this year than anything else. It’s obvious that his prime is way behind him but the Italian should be capable of playing better tennis.
14-14 is not a good score and his ranking dropped considerably to number 64 overall. Last week in Bastad he ran into an inspired Sebastian Baez who bested him easily in two sets. The Argentine went on to the final in the end. In the doubles, Fognini played superbly with Simone Bolleli so the week was okay overall.
He will look to right the ship a little bit in Hamburg and he’s got a fairly solid draw. Bedene is a player weeks away from retirement and Fognini should be able to win this easily. He dominated him in the past leading 10-1 in H2H matches and generally is the more talented player.
Fognini played okay on clay this year with an 11-10 record but he needs some wins to build up that confidence.

Bedene Cruising to Retirement
Aljaz Bedene has not played much tennis this year and that’s largely due to injuries. The Slovene player has battled injuries in the past months and officially announced his retirement for later this year.
He will do it back home in the Davis Cup so these events he’s playing are somewhat of a farewell tour for him. He only played 11 matches this year and has a 4-7 record overall. All four of his wins have come on clay and he played a decent Roland Garros losing to Novak Djokovic.
Since then it’s only been two official matches and he lost both of them on grass. The last time he held a racquet was last week where he played an exhibition against Djokovic in Bosnia. It’s clear that his mind is not on tennis anymore but he can still win matches.
Don’t expect him to give up in this one but it will be tricky.
Fognini v Bedene Prediction and Tip
They played plenty of times in the past and Fognini leads 10-1. It’s fairly rare to see such domination in a H2H in tennis but it’s clear that Fognini has the upper hand here.
He should win this one as well because Bedene is only weeks from retirement and in theory, Fabio should care more about this match. He certainly needs the win.
