Maryna Zanevska v Alexandra Cadantu-Ignatik Head to Head

The tally is tied at 2-2 between the two ladies; they last met in the 2021 ITF Amstelveen, where Alexandra prevailed in three sets.

Zanevska Survives Tomovoa

Number seven seed Maryna Zanevska began her journey in Hamburg with a 4-6, 6-4, 6-3 win over Viktoriya Tomova in the opener.

Now ranked World No. 72, this marks the first win for the 28-year-old Belgian on the tour since the Strasbourg Open in May (where she was a quarterfinalist). Since then, Maryna has moved on to lose five matches consecutively spread across the French Open, Bett1Open, Eastbourne International, and Wimbledon.

The first half of her season has gone by in similar, uneventful spells as she fell early in the hard-court events in Australia, the Middle East, and the United States.

The few wins Zanevska did pick up came on the clay courts – notably in the Saint-Malo Challenger, where she was a semifinalist.

It is not entirely surprising since she is somewhat of a red surface specialist with 15 ITF finals, four WTA doubles finals, and one WTA singles title on the surface.

Cadantu-Ignatik Moves Past Hibino

World No. 172 Alexandra Cadantu-Ignatik had to work hard to earn her opening-round victory in Hamburg as she beat Nao Hibino 6-3, 2-6, 6-2.

Starting as a qualifier, she had to pave her way to the main round after moving past Ella Seidel and Anna-Lena Friedsam in the prelims.

The former World No. 59 has enjoyed a resurgence of sorts in 2022; she is now 27-14 as of Wednesday and has three ITF finals to her name. Her last feat on the circuit came in April when she was a finalist in the ITF Orlando.

Cadantu-Ignatik has spent most of her time competing in low-tier events this season. Her performance hasn’t been that great in big events, as she fell in the opening/qualifying matches.

Case in point, the Romanian last featured in Lausanne, where she lost to Cristina Bucsa in the qualifiers.

Zanevska v Cadantu-Ignatik Prediction and Tip

The match can go either way. Both players are experienced and, to some extent, unpredictable. Alexandra’s last WTA singles final came in 2012, while Zanevska’s sole such feat came only last year.

They have had long matches to make it this far. It wouldn’t be surprising to see another such game in this meeting.
