World no. 35 Aliaksandra Sasnovich moved into her fourth quarterfinal of the season, with a straight sets victory over Aleksandra Krunic in the second round on Wednesday.
The fourth seed Belarusian needed an hour and 20 minutes to beat the Serb 6-3, 6-2. After both players traded an early break, Sasnovich ran away with the set, breaking the World No. 75 two more times in the set.
In the second set, the Hungarian Open runner-up Krunic got an early break to lead 1-2. But Sasnovich came back, winning the next five games in a row to claim the contest and advance to the last eight.
Sasnovich had also won her opening round contest in straight sets, defeating Germany’s Nastasja Mariana Schunk 6-1, 6-4.
The Belarusian had reached a third WTA final of her career at the Melbourne Summer Set earlier this year, but she remained without a title after going down to Amanda Anisimova.
She also made it to the quarters in St. Petersburg and Berlin. Can she reach a second semifinal of the season with a win on Thursday?

Zanevska Knocks Out Qualifier Cadanțu-Ignatik
World no. 72 Maryna Zanevska advanced to the quarterfinal with a straight sets win over qualifier Alexandra Cadanțu-Ignatik on Wednesday.
The 28-year-old Belgian came back from a break down twice in the first set before getting the decisive third break in the 10th game to take a one-set-to-love lead.
In the second set, it was Zanevska who broke first but saw the advantage disappear in the very next game as Cadanțu-Ignatik broke back. But Zanevska restored the advantage immediately and finished the match by winning the last four games of the contest to register a 6-4, 6-1 victory.
Zanevska, who was also a quarterfinalist in Strasbourg, had come into the tournament on the back of five-match losing streak. But she ended the unbeaten run with a come-from-behind opening round win over Bulgaria’s Viktoriya Tomova. The seventh seed had won the opener 4-6, 6-4, 6-3.
Sasnovich v Zanevska Prediction and Tip
Sasnovich will look to use all her experience to advance to the final four. Expect the Belarusian to advance in straight sets.
