Federico Coria v Cristian Garin Head to Head
There have been three previous meetings at the highest level between these two players and Coria leads 2-1. Garin did win their first match on the Challenger circuit though. All three ATP matches came on clay, with their latest match-up happening in Rio earlier this year where Coria triumphed 6-2, 6-0.

While Coria has won his last meetings against Garin, his last two matches at the highest level haven’t yielded him the kind of results he would have liked.
The Argentine was sent packing by Andrey Rublev in the second round in Bastad before falling to Daniel Elahi Galan in his opener in Hamburg.
And between those two ATP matches, Coria had also featured at the Bundesliga tennis competition where he fell in three sets to Filip Horansky, making it three successive losses.
What Coria would like to do is to look back at his performances in Marrakesh (in April) and Lyon (in June) to gain a semblance of confidence – he was a semifinalist at the first and a quarterfinalist at the latter competition.

Garin Showing Some Signs of Old
It’s not been some of the best tennis he has ever played in his career, but in more recent times, Garin is showing some of the signs from the times he won his five clay court times.
He might have lost in the first round at the Gstaad Open to Yannick Hanfmann – and it was a shock defeat alright to someone starting out at 12/5 to win it – but Garin had reached the quarterfinal at Wimbledon before that.
And at the French Open, Garin had made it as far as the third round, after being a quarterfinalist at Rome.
Against Coria, who is a clay-court specialist and has had the better of him in recent times, things might not get any easy but Garin will enter the match with some confidence.
