Wang Qiang v Dalila Jakupovic Head to Head

After needing back to back wins in the qualifiers to make it through to the main draw, it was a gritty battle against Rebecca Peterson that allowed Qiang to register a comeback-from-behind win in her opener here.
Qiang, ranked 141st in the world, was swept aside in the first set but then clawed her way back in the next two to win the encounter 1-6, 6-3, 7-6 (4) to enter round two.
In a match which saw Qiang drop her serve three times and break her opponent just twice, she played a lot better on the big points. Where the former world number 12 also scored over her opponent was when she slowly grew in the contest even as Peterson’s rhythm failed her.
Qiang will now look to emulate her quarterfinal showing here in 2019 as she takes on a surprise opponent in round two.

Jakupovic Benefits from van Uytvanck Injury
Jakupovic is more know for her play on clay and in recent times, for her appearances on the lower, ITF circuit.
Which is why her appearance in the second round of this competition in Prague, played on hard court would have come as a surprise for a few. Well, things have gone her way for sure.
For starters, Jakupovic recorded back to back straight-set wins in the qualifiers to make the main draw where she was scheduled to take on Alison van Uytvanck. Van Uytvanck wasn’t at her best even to start things off but seven games into the contest retired from their match because of a lower back injury.
Jakupovic will now hope to get off to a strong start against Wang Qiang again on the back of this new-found momentum.
