She is ranked 120th in the world and that is Bucsa’s career-best ranking.
A solid showing in the qualifiers here has brought her through to the main draw here where she Bucsa will hope she can add to her two wins for the season.
Bucsa’s journey to the main draw has already seen her overcome Kimberly Birrell and Caty McNally in the qualifiers, both of which came in three sets. And even at the lower level of tennis, hard court surfaces are her most favourite with an overall win-loss record of 76-38 on them for her.
Against Halep, who has been in the kind of form she has been, it might get exponentially that much more difficult but Bucsa has the grit to put up a fight.
