Alex de Minaur v Yoshihito Nishioka Head to Head
They played two times and Nishioka won both times. The most recent one happened in 2019 in Cincinnati.

de Minaur’s Triumph in Atlanta
It was far from easy or simple but Alex de Minaur emerged victorious in Atlanta beating Jenson Brooksby in the final. The duo were expected to meet in Washington once more but the American easily lost to Nishioka setting us up with this clash.
It’s a good one for de Minaur as he’s the far better player and in better form with an added dose of motivation. He’s 0-2 against Nishioka in his career and be certain, that he’ll want to change that. It’s been a fairly good year for the Australian.
He played well in North America earlier this year and his game seemed to have matured quite a bit. A 32-16 record certainly proves that and 12-5 on hard courts is hard to ignore. de Minaur played in the final here in 2018 losing to Alexander Zverev so he’s familiar with the event.
The next appearances have been shaky but with good form picked up in Atlanta, anything is possible.

Nishioka’s Surprise Win
Nobody really expected Nishioka to beat Jenson Brooksby in round one of Washington but he did just that. The Japanese player did not play a perfect match, far from it actually, but he did get a very poor performance from Brooksby which he used.
It was a strange match because the American never properly arrived. He dropped his serve several times and despite breaking Nishioka twice, the match was not close. Nishioka employed a very aggressive return on the 2nd serve which is something de Minaur did as well.
It worked as Brooksby barely won any points on his 2nd serve rendering it useless. Overall it was just a solid game plan from Nishioka that was executed well enough.
Brooksby was clearly still hung up on Atlanta and that’s just part of the process for him. As for Nishioka, he’s 29-17 on the year and 15-8 on hard courts but the majority of that happened on the Challenger Tour.
de Minaur v Nishioka Prediction and Tip
This is rather simple for me. I think de Minaur will win and I don’t think he’ll have much trouble. Nishioka did play well in round one but not well enough to beat the Australian.
I expect a rested de Minaur to cruise here.
Tip: de Minaur to win in straight sets: 1/1 (Click Here to Bet with bet365)
