Maxime Cressy v Jack Sock Head to Head
They played once before and it happened at Wimbledon this year with Sock winning in four sets.

Maxime Cressy played some stellar tennis earlier this year to gather up a bunch of points and rise through the rankings. The American started his rise late last year around this time with some strong showings at the US Open and similar events.
He is hopeful that will happen this year as well so he can continue his tremendous journey. He is on the cusp of entering the top 30 and by the end of this North American stretch, Cressy could find himself in the top 20 as well.
A lot will depend on how he plays because his serve and volley style can be positive and negative. The courts are really fast so that will suit him and last year he served tons of aces. He also recently won his maiden trophy in Newport so he should be buzzing with confidence.
If he can continue playing that well, he can certainly hope for some superb results in the next couple of weeks. He’s 27-19 so far this year.

Sock Shines in Washington
Nobody really expected Jack Sock to defeat David Goffin in the opening round of Washington yet the American did just that with some excellent tennis. Sock has been working hard from the start of the year grinding on the Challenger Tour and now he’s reaping the results.
Some excellent tennis at Wimbledon gave him confidence and he’s showing it now. The American is pretty close to returning to the top 100 which would be great to see. A fan favourite, particularly back home, Sock doesn’t mind playing attractive tennis.
Sometimes it works out, sometimes it doesn’t but he’ll always be entertaining to watch. The serve is working at a decent level which is important and the forehand shines at times as well.
The conditions in North America will favour him at most events and he just needs to find that confidence and consistency that had him playing at the ATP Finals a couple of years ago.
Cressy v Sock Prediction and Tip
So they played recently at Wimbledon and Sock won. It was a strange match in a way because nobody saw it coming but it demonstrated a matchup flaw for Cressy.
He will face similar issues here but I do think he’ll manage it a bit better. I expect a close one but I do think Cressy will get.
