This will be their first meeting on the WTA Tour.

Auger-Aliassime, Coming off Shaky Results

21-year-old Canadian Felix Auger-Aliassime is the number two seed in Los Cabos as he looks to get cracking the US Open swing.

His form in the last couple of tournaments was not that great, as he lost in the first round of Wimbledon and ATP Newport to Maxime Cressy and Jason Kubler.

Nonetheless, his tally for the year stands at an impressive 30-17, and he has two ATP finals to his name from Rotterdam (champion) and Open 13 (runner-up).

Felix was also a quarterfinalist in the Australian Open, Madrid Open, and Italian Open. Armed with an exceptional record against the elites on the ATP Tour (wins over Roger Federer, Andy Murray, Alexander Zverev, Stefanos Tsitsipas and others), he will fancy his prospects of a good result in Mexico this week.

Hernandez Moves Past Barrientos

23-year-old Mexican Alex Hernandez started his campaign in the tournament with a 3-6, 6-4, 6-4 win over Nicolás Barrientos in the opener.

This also marked the first ATP win of his career; his last such tournament was in Acapulco in February, where he lost in the opener to Pablo Andujar in straight sets, winning just one game in the process.

As a result of these exploits, Hernandez is poised to crack the top 500 and hopefully, go further in due course of time.

He has spent most of his season on Challenger and ITF circuits – but to little avail. His pedigree is slim, with hardly any titles or deep runs to show for it. Case in point, in his last couple of ITF events, he lost in the second round to players ranked well below the 800s.

Auger-Aliassime v Hernandez Prediction and Tip

This match is Felix’s to lose. He has the experience and a superior track record on the ATP Tour to easily dispatch Alex and reach the quarters comfortably. Expect no surprises here.

Tip: Auger-Aliassime to win in straight sets: 10/11 (Click Here to Bet with bet365)
