Pliskova Struggling for Consistency

A finalist last year, World no. 15 Karolina Pliskova has been struggling for consistency this season.

The Czech, who finished runner-up to Camila Giorgi in 2021, brings a 10-12 season record into this year’s tournament. Having missed the early part of the season due to a hand injury, Pliskova began her season at Indian Wells. She had a poor start, winning just two of her first eight matches before finally getting some momentum in Stuttgart where she made it to the semifinals before bowing out.

While she did find a few consecutive wins in Stuttgart, it didn’t end her struggles as she continued to lack consistency over the next few tournaments. She won two to reach the quarters in Berlin, but struggled to win consecutive matches in the other tournaments.

This week, she ousted Katie Boulter in the opening round in San Jose, but lost in three sets to Amanda Anisimova.

A two time Grand Slam finalist, Pliskova has won 16 titles from 32 tour level finals. She will be keen to return to form and repeat her last year’s performance in Toronto this year as well.

Krejcikova Faces a Tricky Opener

After a brilliant 44-18 season, Barbora Krejcikova has just not got going this year.

The World no. 18 did start the year well, reaching her sixth WTA final in Sydney, but she couldn’t add to the three titles she won last year.

Following the runner-up finish in Sydney, Krejcikova reached a maiden quarterfinal at the Australian Open, but soon experienced a dip in form.

She reached just one quarterfinal in her next eight tournaments, thus falling out of the top 10 and continuing to see a decline in the rankings.

Can Krejcikova arrest the slide in Toronto? The 2022 Australian Open and Wimbledon doubles champion has a tough road ahead. She start off against last year’s finalist and in case she gets through the opening round, she faces a potential second round matchup against Amanda Anisimova. The fact that she is 0-1 in the main draws in Toronto, doesn’t make things easy either.

Pliskova v Krejcikova Prediction and Tip

Both players are struggling and both will be eager to get into a rhythm quickly. Expect a three-setter with Pliskova extending her record to against Krejcikova to 4-0.

Tip: Pliskova to win in three sets: 3/1 (Click Here to Bet with bet365)
