Elena Rybakina v Marie Bouzkova Head to Head

Elena Rybakina triumphed at Wimbledon but since then she’s winless. To be fair she only played one match, in San Jose, and lost to eventual champion Daria Kasatkina. It was not a bad match by Rybakina who won the first set but the kind of collapse later on when Kasatkina surged.
The grand slam champion is a very fascinating player. Tremendous serve, incredible groundstrokes and solid movement are the staples of her game. All of that works well on hard courts and she has an excellent record on the surface.
88-49 in her career and 10-6 this year should give her optimism ahead of the US Open. The Kasatkina loss was a bad one but she did explain that she prepared very little. With more practice that should iron itself out. Bouzkova will be good practice for Rybakina because she will need to play smart.

7-Match Winning Streak for Bouzkova
Marie Bouzkova arrived in Toronto after winning her maiden trophy on hard courts back home in Prague. The Czech player is showing the full potential of her tennis this year with some standout performances. Her ranking is higher, her level is higher and she’s enjoying herself on the court.
The play style is a tricky combination of attacking and defending but the point of it is to make the opponent commit a mistake. It’s one that can work well and Bouzkova is executing it well, especially on faster surfaces.
It never worked on Rybakina so far as she’s 0-2 against her but it’s still a breakout year for Bouzkova who is 33-10 on the year. She’s 24-6 on hard courts so that’s quite impressive. She’s in good form and she proved it in the qualifiers beating two players with ease.
The 2nd one was a win over Wimbledon semi-finalist Tatjana Maria and that should have everyone’s attention.
Rybakina v Bouzkova Prediction and Tip
So this is a tricky matchup for Rybakina because she doesn’t enjoy playing against players such as Bouzkova. The Czech player is certainly better prepared for this one and is playing in better form.
I think that’s reason enough to back her for an upset as I don’t see Rybakina fully hitting her peak until the US Open. I’ll be bold and try for the upset.
