Gael Monfils v Maxime Cressy Head to Head
The pair have never played each other before. This will be the first match between the 35 year old Frenchman, and the American, who is a decade younger.

Monfils Struggles Past Spanish Clay Court Player
Monfils has a fine record in Canada, having twice been a semi-finalist here, and with two further quarter-finals under his belt, including last year.
However, he was made to work harder than he would have liked for his passage to the second round this time, by the Spaniard, Pedro Martinez, the world number 53, better known for his prowess on clay.
The Frenchman made a bad start to the match and dropped his opening service game, but he hit back to level.
Both men had further break points, but Monfils was the next to be broken again, before immediately recovering the break, and forcing the tie-break.
He went on to claim it, but not without difficulty.
Martinez, though, went on to force the only break in the second set, and the match was all square again.
The Spaniard then had four break points at the start of the third set, but his failure to take any of them cost him dear, because Monfils then broke him in turn. This time, the veteran was not in the mood to offer second chances, and sealed the win with a further break.

Newport Winner Cressy Makes Second Round for the First Time
Cressy has been in three finals already this year, and, having finished runner-up twice, broke his title duck on the grass of Newport Beach last month.
This, though, is the first time that the American has featured in the main draw of this event, and it is only the second time ever he has made it to the second round of a Masters’ tournament.
He progressed in some style, though, with a straight sets win over the world number 38, Aslan Karatsev.
The match began with the pair swapping service breaks, but it then reverted to serve until Karatsev, serving to stay in the match, was broken once more.
Cressy looked to have thrown away his advantage when he dropped his serve at the start of the second set, and when Karatsev had another break point, he was on course to level the match. But not only did the American save that, but he broke back next game.
A demoralised Karatsev was then broken again to love to hand Cressy the victory.
Monfils v Cressy Prediction and Tip
Although Monfils has much the better record, not in this tournament but in Masters’ events in general, Cressy has been one of the men in form this year, and he will be hoping that will be enough to carry him into the third round.
