Ruusuvuori Looking Good

Emil Ruusuvuori played very solid tennis in the past few weeks but unfortunately suffered a couple of close losses. His game is looking pretty strong on these courts however his constant battle with consistency makes it really hard for him to finally get that big break.

The serve is strong enough, and the groundstroke can be excellent but he simply can’t figure out a way to play complete matches on a consistent basis. Far too many of his matches end up going to three sets and far too many of those don’t end up with him winning them.

He went 2-1 in Washington and 1-1 in Montreal which showcases that consistency is a problem. Overall he’s playing good but you can never be sure with him, he might win but he also might lose. The season overall looked really good so far with a 32-24 record but he needs to play better overall.

Another problem is his lack of variety, it’s mostly topspin shots with not much variety. If he can find ways to win points besides hitting the ball hard he might find himself playing more consistent matches.

Wolf Looking For More Home Success

J.J. Wolf is one of those players that will always play his best tennis at home in the US. He’s been fairly strong lately playing some amazing tennis, in Washington, especially where only Rublev proved better.

Wolf is 31-20 on the year and he’s 20-11 on hard courts. Most of those wins came on the Challenger Tour as he played plenty leading up to this part of the season but he also had some decent results during the sunshine double.

This is a very important part of the season for him because it could push him higher in the rankings and give him a chance to play ATP tennis more often. He’s 84 currently and that’s by far the highest he’s ever been ranked. His game is one built around his serve.

It’s a powerful one and it allows him to finish off points quickly with his serve. That’s his main objective when starting a rally, to win the point in the shorters way possible. He opted against playing in Montreal wanting to get ready for Cincinnati and he most likely practised really well.

I could see him win a couple of matches here but he’ll need to get past Ruusuvuori first.

Ruusuvuori v Wolf Prediction and Tip

This is a very interesting matchup between two players with a similar playstyle. It’s hard to call who will win here because both can do it but I do think it will be a very competitive affair.

I could see Wolf winning this one but Ruusuvuori has been really solid lately. I’ll back the American simply due to him being at home. I think he can do it.

Tip: Wolf to win in three sets: 3/1 (Click Here to Bet with bet365)
