Diego Schwartzman v Alex Molcan Head to Head
Schwartzman won their only meeting at the U.S. Open last year.

Schwartzman Has Struggled on Hard Court
Diego Schwartzman escaped a first round exit in Montreal by scoring a come-from-behind win over Alejandro Davidovich Fokina, but couldn’t go past the second round, falling to Albert Ramos Vinolas.
The Argentine now turns attention to Cincinnati where he has a 5-5 record. Twice he has reached the Round of 16, in 2019 and 2021, but never beyond that.
Overall the World No. 15 is 27-18 this season, but most of his success has come on clay, where he was 21-10 this season. He finished runner-up in Buenos Aires and rio and was a semifinalist in Barcelona and Cordoba.
Things haven’t been too encouraging for the 29-year-old on hard courts. Although he had a decent 18-10 record last year on the surface, he has a pretty disappointing 5-5 record on the surface this year and he may have a hard time coming up against a tough opponent in the first round in Cincy.

Molcan Making Debut
Facing Schwartzman in the opener is Alex Molcan, who himself showed brilliant form on clay this season, reaching the final in Marrakech and Lyon and making the semifinals in Hamburg.
While he is 14-6 on clay, he has a 6-6 record on hard courts this year. The Slovakian left-hander’s best on the surface was a quarterfinal finish in Melbourne, where he won two consecutive matches to reach the last eight.
Since then he hasn’t win two matches in a row on hard courts. At the Canadian Open this week, he won the opener against Mackenzie McDonald but failed to beat Casper Ruud in round 2.
The 24-year-old World no. 42 is set to make his Cincinnati debut this year. He brings a 23-15 record into the tournament. Can he get off to a winning start?
Schwartzman v Molcan Prediction and Tip
Both players have done well on clay but struggled on hard court this year. Expect the experienced Schwartzman to begin with a win in the first round.
Tip: Schwartzman to win in straight sets: 1/1 (Click Here to Bet with bet365)
