Bautista Agut In Decent Form

World no. 18 Roberto Bautista Agut has been in decent form throughout the season. No matter the surface, he has produced good results and gone deep in tournaments.

He won a hard court title in Qatar, reached a grass court final in Mallorca and won a clay court title in Kitzbuhel.

Most recently, the Spaniard featured in the Canadian Open, winning the first two rounds against Marcos Giron and Jenson Broooksy respectively, before falling to Casper Ruud in a very close three-set Round of 16 contest.

As a result of all those performances, the 34-year-old brings a 29-12 season record into the tournament. At Cincinnati, the 11-time tour level champion has an 8-7 record. He was a semifinalist in 2020 and a quarterfinalist in 209, but lost in the opening round to Grigor Dimitrov last year.

He is expected to make a solid start in the tournament.

Cerundolo Looking to Impress on Debut

Francisco Cerundolo has played some great tennis this season and would be eager to overcome his first round defeat at the Canadian Open.

The 23-year-old Argentine, who won his maiden title in Bastad last month, is 20-13 this year. He also reached the semifinals in Hamburg in the last week of July but didn’t quite have the same impact on his transition to hard court in August as he went down to Karen Khachanov in the opener in Montreal.

The World No. 27, who is 14-7 on clay, also made the semifinals in Rio and the quarterfinals in Buenos Aires. While he was expected to do well on clay, it is his performance in Miami that caught everyone’s attention.

Ranked no. 103 before the start of the Miami Open, Cerundolo ousted some big names on his way to the semifinals, before going down to Casper Ruud.

Cerundolo has a season record of 5-3 on hard courts. Can he produce a Miami-like performance on his Cincinnati debut?

Bautista Agut v Cerundolo Prediction and Tip
