The last time she won a main draw match it was in the first round in Wimbledon against Anna Bondár. Since then Anhelina Kalinina has featured in four tournaments, going out in the opening round in all of them.
The World no. 53 won both her qualifying round matches in Cincinnati last week, but she was comprehensively beaten by Elise Mertens in straight sets.
Although she comes into the tournament on the back of five consecutive defeats, the Ukrainian will look to draw inspiration from her early season form, which saw her reach the quarterfinals in Charleston, Madrid and Eastbourne.
The 25-year-old Kalinina also made it to the fourth round in Miami on debut, but was forced to withdraw from the Round of 16 match.
Kalinina is 20-17 across levels this year and 7-8 on hard courts. She will be desperate to end her losing streak in Cleveland.

Siegemund Makes the Main Draw
World No. 216 Laura Siegemund has not made many main draw appearances on the tour this year, but on Sunday she qualified for Cleveland with a straight sets win over Francesca Di Lorenzo.
After a tough first set, the German eased past the American in the second for a 7-5, 6-2 victory. The 34-year-old former World No. 30 had beaten another American Akasha Urhobo 6-4, 6-3 in the first qualifying round on Saturday.
Siegemund is 23-11 overall this season and 2-2 on hard court. She won two ITF titles on clay and was a quarterfinalist in Stuttgart, where she beat Tamara Zidansek and Maria Sakkari en route the last eight.
A two-time champion on the tour, Siegemund won two doubles titles with Vera Zvonareva this season, and that includes the Miami Open, which was her first ever WTA 1000 title.
Kalinina v Siegemund Prediction and Tip
Kalinina has posted far better results on the tour than Siegemund this year. She will be hoping to end her main draw losing streak and get back to winning ways. Expect the Ukrainian to ease into the next round.
