Barbora Krejcikova v Bernarda Pera
2021 Roland Garros champion Barbora Krejcikova is slowly finding her rhythm on hard courts as the Czech player is through to the 3rd round of the Cleveland event. Krejcikova missed a good chunk of the year due to an injury but now she’s finally getting back into it.
After struggling with her form in Cincinnati she was able to win her first match in Cleveland by beating Di Lorenzo in straight sets. Krejcikova is 11-7 on hard courts this year and generally plays really well on them because her precise groundstrokes control the play really well.
Bernarda Pera does a very similar thing but the American is a bit more aggressive. She’s 30-15 on the year winnin a recent trophy as well. Only 12 of those matches happened on hard courts but she’s 7-5 on it showing a rather solid level on them as well.
Both of them can win this match and I expect a proper battle that might possibly go to three sets. I do think Krejcikova is closer to winning but don’t discount Pera.
Tip: Over 20.5 Games: 5/6 (Click Here to Bet with bet365)
Maxime Cressy v Lorenzo Sonego
Two years ago this would have been a simple match for Sonego but today the Italian finds himself as the underdog. Cressy has had an incredible season so far posting a 30-22 record with a 14-9 record on hard courts. The American has high hopes of this stretch but he needs a good win here.
Sonego did not have a good year so far having posted only a 20-22 record but one of the streakiest players on the Tour. If he hits his form he can beat anyone but it just doesn’t happen that often. That’s why Cressy is such a bad matchup for him.
Sonego needs rallies to get into a rhythm and the better he plays the more confidence he has. The way Cressy plays tennis won’t allow that. The American plays short and simple points which don’t allow Sonego to find a very good rhythm.
I can see him spraying a lot of errors due to that and ultimately I think the American is moving on to the quarterfinals.
Tip: Cressy to win in straight sets: 3/4 (Click Here to Bet with bet365)
Dominic Thiem v Jack Draper
Dominic Thiem is having a solid good return to North America as he has a chance to play in the quarterfinal here if he beat Draper. Theim had a tough round one win over J.J. Wolf and he advanced past Grigor Dimitrov in round two as well.
It wasn’t a very good match as he lost the opening set 0-6 but advanced after Dimitrov retired in the second set down 2-4. Getting at least three matches ahead of the US Open was the goal for Thiem and he’ll get that. Nobody expected him to shine this week but it turned out pretty decently.
One player that was expected to shine is Jack Draper and he did not disappoint against Fognini. A bit tougher than expected but it’s important for him to learn how to win these types of matches early in his career. He’ll have a very solid chance for the quarterfinal against Thiem.
I do think Draper will get the win because I don’t see Thiem being able to withstand him in three sets should e get there. I think Draper will do it in two because Thiem’s mind is probably already in New York.
Tip: Draper to win in straight sets: 1/1 (Click Here to Bet with bet365)
