Alex Molcan v Thiago Monteiro Head to Head
The pair have played each other once before in a Challenger event in China four years ago, Monteiro winning easily in straight sets.

Molcan made his Grand Slam debut in Flushing Meadow last year, and went on to reach the third round, a feat he subsequently matched at Wimbledon.
This year he has appeared in two clay court finals, finishing on the losing side both times, in Morocco in April, and in Lyon the following month.
Following Wimbledon he reached the semi-finals on the clay of Hamburg, but has not enjoyed the best of form so far on American hard courts,
He was beaten in the second round of Montreal, and went down to an opening rou8nd defeat in Cincinnati, losing to Diego Schwartzman of Argentine.

Monteiro’s Poor New York Record
The Brazilian number one has a terrible record in New York, and has never been beyond the first round in this event since he first competed here in 2016.
However, he will be buoyed by the fact that he was a winner in the Challenger tour last month in Austria, although that was on his preferred surface of clay.
His next two matches resulted in first round defeats in Kitzbuhel and Umag, and switching to hard courts, he failed to qualify for Cincinnati.
Spared such a necessity in Winston Salem, he reached the quarter-finals there, before losing in straight sets to the French player, Benjamin Bonzi.
Molcan v Monteiro Prediction and Tip
Although Molcan has not enjoyed the best of fortune on hard courts recently, he is playing a man who has never been beyond the first round in this tournament. That runs looks set to continue.
