Sebastian Korda v Facundo Bagnis Head to Head
They played once before and it was in 2018 at the US Open. Bagnis won in two sets.

Korda Hopeful of Breakout
Sebastian Korda has had an up-and-down season with some impressive wins but also some poor results. Some injuries did not help his cause but he’s hoping for a proper breakout here and getting into the second week.
It doesn’t look too bad with a 22-16 score but 12-8 could certainly be better if some things went differently for him. Since returning from shin splints recovery following the grass season, Korda lost to Ymer in the Washington quarterfinals. John Isner proved better in Cincinnati so it’s not been that great.
The opponent is a fair one and actually, Bagnis beat him at the US Open before. The motivation should not be lacking for Korda and it could serve as a good launch for him.
Every win will increase his confidence and considering his aggressive baseline playstyle, confidence is key. A streaky player by nature, Korda thrives on wins.

Bagnis Sails Through Qualifiers
Facundo Bagnis needed to play the qualifiers to get into the main draw of the US Open and he passed the test. His wins weren’t that impressive but it’s certainly much better than what he usually puts out on hard courts.
A natural on clay, Bagnis had to work hard to become a solid hard-court player that he is now. His record on the surface is still bad 37-52 but he can certainly challenge some lower-ranked players on the surface. Unfortunately for him, Korda is not one of them.
On another note, the streakiness of Korda can work against him if he catches one of those matches when he can’t hit the court. Bagnis is well adapted to keeping the ball in play so if that happens he’ll have a chance. It’s been a good year for him so far with a 28-22 record and 7-7 on hard.
That hard court record was boosted with 3 wins this week but he’s looking solid ahead of a big match for him.
Korda v Bagnis Prediction and Tip
So this is an interesting matchup because Korda will have all eyes on him. The match is on his racquet and if he plays well, he’ll be good. If not, he could lose this match.
All things said I’d be pretty shocked if he drops this one.
Tip: Korda to win in four sets: 3/1 (Click Here to Bet with bet365)
