Aljaz Bedene v Pedro Cachin Head to Head
They played once before and Bedene won that match.

Bedene’s Final US Open
Aljaz Bedene will play his final US Open this week as the Slovenian is set to retire during his country’s Davis Cup tie next month. It’s been a decent career for the Slovene who played tor two countries during his time but now it’s time to put in a good show for the US Open crowd once more.
It will be tricky as he is facing a player who has played far more tennis this year than he did and looked much better. It’s not like Cachin is a better player on hard courts but with retirement so close, you have to question Bedene’s commitment.
His last match came in Umag and he lost to Lorenzo Musetti. That was exactly a month ago and his last win came at the Roland Garros in round two. That was on May 25th so about three months ago. It’s not a great introduction and coming from clay won’t help.
He is 4-13 on the year and that speaks more than any words can.

Cachin’s Decent Chance
Drawing Bedene in round one is fairly lucky for Cachin as it gives him a really good opportunity to win the match and move on. The Argentine has played a superb year so far winning 50 matches and losing 15. Only four matches came outside of clay though so his preference seems rather clear.
Even so, Cachin is still a pro, he can play good tennis on hard courts and he is certainly capable of beating Bedene who is weeks away from a football executive career. He didn’t play a hard court even to prepare for this grand slam but he did win a trophy on clay just recently so his form is pretty good.
His game is a typical clay game and that’s his biggest negative when it comes to playing on hard courts, especially fast hard courts but I still have no problem in backing him here.
It’s just a perfect opportunity for him to get a win.
Bedene v Cachin Prediction and Tip
As I noted above, Bedene’s motivation is a big question here. He can certainly win this match if he truly tries but I just think Cachin is in better shape.
He’s played recently and he looks comfortable with his game. Feels like enough to win even if it takes five sets.
Tip: Cachin to match: 8/11 (Click Here to Bet with bet365)
