Anna Kalinskaya v Rebecca Peterson Head to Head

Peterson leads 1-0, although that match was not seen to fruition. Kalinskaya retired in the third set of the 2021 Saint-Malo Challenger trailing 6-4, 4-6, 4-0.

Peterson on Shaky Grounds

World No. 92 Rebecca Peterson featured in the semifinal of the Vancouver Challenger just a couple of weeks ago, where she moved past Anna Karolina Schmiedlova, Catherine Harrison, and Maddison Inglis before losing to Lucia Bronzetti. That was also her best run of the season.

However, she failed to build on it as she fell to Nuria Parrizas Diaz in the following tournament in Granby in straight sets.

Before this month, her other highlights included reaching the quarterfinal in ITF Wiesbaden and Bastad Challenger and the second round in WTA Adelaide 2 and Melbourne Set 2.

Clearly, Peterson hasn’t had the best of the season – or a consistent one. Amidst this, Kalinskaya is poised rather wonderfully to spoil her party.

Kalinskaya Looking Confident

Anna Kalinskaya may not have been the best performer of late, but she has still had a far better season than Peterson.

Most recently, she competed in the Citi Open, where she was a quarterfinalist (loss to Kaia Kanepi) and later made it to the second round in Cincinnati as a qualifier. She played Aryna Sabalenka but retired in the second set.

While Anna did not fare that well on clay and grass courts, she did perform superbly in the hard court events earlier in the year.

As a qualifier, the current World No. 60 reached the third round in the Indian Wells Open and Miami Open and was also a semifinalist in WTA Guadalajara.

On the doubles circuit, she won the St. Petersburg Trophy and was a runner-up in Washington with Caty McNally.

Peterson v Kalinskaya Prediction and Tip

A straight-set victory is certainly doable for Kalinskaya – she ticks all the right boxes for this match and should do well to move past Peterson comfortably.
