Ons Jabeur v Elizabeth Mandlik Head to Head

She took her time to get going but in the end, Jabeur registered a straight-set win over Madison Brengle in her first round here.
Jabeur was on court for an hour and 11 minutes in her 7-5, 6-2 victory over Brengle that took her close to her previous best at the US Open – she needs one more win here to emulate that.
In a match that had umpteen breaks of serve, it was Jabeur who edged past Brengle in the opening set. The Tunisian went 3-1 up, then dropped her serve, only to get another break and serve for the set at 5-4.
Another break of serve happened before Jabeur broke in the 11th game off the sixth break-point in the game. She wrapped the set up off her second set-point.
Things got a lot easier in the second set as Jabeur clinched the victory by serving it out to love.

Mandlik Trundles Past Tamara
Tamara Zidansek was always a second favourite going into her opener against Mandlik but the world number 144 took her time to get past her opponent.
In a match lasting two hours and 43 minutes, Mandlik won 5-7, 7-6 (3), 6-4 with both players earning themselves six breaks of serves apiece.
Mandlik did prevent Zidansek from running away with the contest in the first set when the latter broke and took a 4-2 lead. Right at the end, however, Mandlik failed to hold her serve while serving to stay in the set and went down a set.
Things went on serve till the sixth game of the second set before both players broke each other twice again to push it into a tie-breaker. En route the tie-breaker, Mandlik did miss three set-points but in the end came through to push into a third.
Mandlik had the early advantage there as she raced to a 4-2 lead but a flurry of breaks later it was down to Zidansek needing to serve to stay in the match which she failed to do, the American winning it off her first match-point.
That was Mandlik’s first ever Grand Slam main draw victory. Can she make it two in two?

Jabeur should have no major issues against Mandlik other than complacency given her younger opponent has shown some form, and hence confidence, from the ITF circuit.
