Dan Evans v James Duckworth Head to Head
No previous matches have been played between these two players at the highest level. Their one meeting otherwise came on the Challenger circuit in 2018, with Evans winning in straight sets.

Evans was on court for less than two hours in his opening round victory over Jiri Vesely, dropping just six games and making it to the second round for the fifth time in a row at the US Open.
The Brit, who is currently ranked 23rd in the world as opposed to his career-best ranking of 22nd, was aided by Vesely’s nine double-faults and did not face a single break-point in the entire encounter. This was thanks to his first serve, which he won 91% of them.
At the same time he earned himself 14 break-points of which he broke his opponent six times.
Evans had earlier made it to the semifinal at the Montreal Masters and looked to have carried that form forward here at Flushing Meadows. He looks quite a strong prospect to make it to the third round.

Duckworth Dismisses Fellow Aussie
Duckworth was a second favourite going into his opening round match against Christopher O’Connell. He came through in four sets eventually to seal a second round berth for just the second time in his career at the US Open.
O’Connell started off well winning the first set, but Duckworth then slowly turned things around from the second set around to clinch it in four. The two hour, 46 minute long contest went 4-6, 7-6 (0), 6-2, 6-3 in Duckworth’s favour.
Having come into the tournament on the back of just two wins from the four tournaments he played in the US Open Series, Duckworth managed to hold his serve through the rest of the match after going down in the first.
Two breaks of serves apiece in the third and the fourth set sealed the deal for him as he marched into the second round here for the first time since 2016. Can he now make it to the third round for the first time ever?
