Qinwen Zheng v Jule Niemeier

A very fascinating matchup between two players who play a very heavy style of tennis. Both Zheng and Niemeier enjoy playing aggressively and US Open has certainly rewarded both of them for doing so. The Chinese is having a very strong year so far with a 32-14 record and 21-8 on hard courts.

The German is fairly strong this year as well with a 34-18 record but only 6-6 on hard courts. She had an incredible Wimbledon but she didn’t get any of the points leaving her still ranked outside of the top 100. It’s one match where Zheng will be heavily favoured.

For starters she’s done much better on hard courts this year and played more. That matters as this match on clay would probably go in the German’s favour. Overall I do expect a close affair as I don’t think Niemeier will simply go away.

I think she will challenge Zheng but Qinwen will most likely prevail.

Tip: Zheng to Win, Over 20.5 Games: 11/7 (Click Here to Bet with bet365)

Garbine Muguruza v Petra Kvitova

Two fantastic tennis players will go head to head at the US Open and it’s an incredible matchup. They’ve played a couple of great ones over the years but Petra Kvitova dominated this matchup. She is 5-1 against Muguruza with the last one coming last year in Doha and Kvitova winning 6-2 6-1.

The only win Muguruza got was in 2015 and it was their first matchup. This year has been tough for both as neither is enjoying that great of a year. Kvitova is 23-16 and 14-9 on hard courts. Pretty decent but nothing special. Muguruza is only 11-14 on the year and 8-7 on hard courts.

They both look good in New York though with neither dropping a set so far. Both have a pretty strong serve which could be crucial in a matchup like this. Kvitova is the favourite mostly because she dominated against Muguruza in the past but I don’t think this will be that easy.

I do think Muguruza has a chance if her serve works as it has in the past two days. Back a competitive affair here.

Tip: Three sets in the match: 6/4 (Click Here to Bet with bet365)

Belinda Bencic v Karolina Pliskova

Despite playing for years on the tour, these two players faced each other only once in the past and it happened at the 2019 Indian Wells where Bencic proved better in three sets. That was a great year for the Swiss as she ended up playing in the US Open semi-final.

Pliskova is not having a very good year, she’s not playing the way she used to play last year and it probably has to do with the wrist injury she had earlier in the year. It took her a long time to find form and while 17-14 doesn’t look terrible it’s not great either.

Bencic has been much better with a 33-15 record but most of that came on clay. Pliskova is 8-5 on hard with Bencic being 12-17. The Czech had an easier route to round three than Bencic who went long in both of those sets. That shaky play by Bencic makes me think we are in for another 3-setter.

Pliskova is always one to complicate matches so why not?
