Top seed Daniil Medvedev is out of the US Open 2022, effectively opening up the path for Rafael Nadal and Nick Kyrgios to go the distance. In the women’s half, Coco Gauff makes for a prime contender to win the women’s title. Let’s take a look at how the betting scenario stands after the round of 16 play.

Kyrgios Shakes Things Up
Nick Kyrgios is now at 11/5 (with bet365) to win the tournament – a feat he achieved after knocking out the top seed, defending champion Daniil Medvedev. It was a commanding performance by the eccentric Australian, who took the match 7-6(11), 3-6, 6-3, 6-2.
Kyrgios, following his superb week in New York, is now at 35-9 – armed with the Wimbledon runner-up silverware and the singles and doubles titles from the Washington Open. He next plays Karen Khachanov (33/1 with bet365) in the quarterfinal – the current World No. 31 who arrived at the Flushing Meadows on the back of a mediocre, lacklustre season.
We also have Casper Ruud at 12/1 – who will meet Matteo Berrettini (at 11/1) in the final eight. Bookmakers have pitted them quite close, and it is not really surprising. Ruud, current World No. 7, is having himself a breakthrough season with runner-up feats in the Miami Open and French Open, alongside three singles titles.
Berrettini is on a similar run, although his title collection is not as enviable as Ruud’s (runner-up in the Swiss Open, winner in Stuttgart and Queen’s Club Championships). However, he reached the semifinal in the Australian Open this season, and as a result, punters cannot afford to dismiss the Italian just yet completely.

Gauff, Garcia to Collide in a Heavyweight Clash
Coco Cori Gauff is now pitted at 5/1 (with bet365) after making it to the quarterfinal. Her upcoming opponent, Caroline Garcia, is on 9/2.
Both players make a good bet here to go the distance, but Gauff has the advantage. The American teenager is playing at home and has thrived beautifully so far as she beat veteran players like Elena-Gabriela Ruse, Madison Keys, and Shuai Zhang.
As the current French Open runner-up, a run like this isn’t too surprising from her either.
At the same time, Garcia is on a 12-match win streak. The world number 17 is enjoying the best spell of her career (39-15). With three titles, including the Cincinnati Open, Garcia will fancy her prospects of reaching her first Grand Slam semifinal.
In other news, Ons Jabeur is also an attractive bet at 7/1 (with bet365) – something that punters may want to consider. The Tunisian is on a roll this season. Her motivation to win the major is only compounded by her superior year – now at 42-13.
Her upcoming opponent – Ajla Tomljanovic – is at 14/1. As we all know, upsets are known to happen this late in the tournament. Ajla may not have had a glittering year like Jabeur’s, but she is skilled to topple the World No. 5.
