Rebecca Marino v Anna Blinkova Head to Head

They played once before and it happened this year in May. Marino won in three sets.

Marino Hopes to Continue Domination

Rebecca Marino has a 40-11 record this year and while most of those wins came in lesser events it’s clear that the veteran has found her game again. After all, she used to be ranked inside the top 40 at her peak which is a pretty solid achievement.

Marino has a game that is built around her powerful serve and she usually strikes the ball very well from the baseline. All of that works well on hard and that’s why she has a 29-11 record on the surface this year. The Canadian scored two wins in New York and played in the 3rd round.

All of that gained confidence should so her do well at an event like this one, especially with the solid draw she received. A chance to solidify her ranking for the rest of the season should be further motivation for the Canadian. Having beaten Blinkova once this year will also add to that confidence.

Mixed Results on Hard for Blinkova

Anna Blinkova played only 12 matches on hard courts this year and there is a very good reason for that. She’s simply not as comfortable on the surface as she is on other ones, namely clay. The Russian is 6-6 in those 12 matches which is far but she failed to reach the US Open main draw which was the most recent event she played.

She’s 16-10 on clay and that indicates that she’s most comfortable on that surface. It’s the most matches she played on any surface and the most wins she got on any. It’s been a fairly decent year overall with a 32-23 record and a rank that currently stands at 156th in the world.

Chennai is a decent chance for her but the draw gave her a tricky player that can beat her even if Blinkova brings her best. Their only match so far was played this year on clay and Marino still won. It was a close one in three sets that Blinkova could have won.

Marino v Blinkova Prediction and Tip

I expect the Canadian to take a commanding lead early in this one and not let things slip away. Blinkova could put up a good effort but I don’t see her winning.

Tip: Marino to win in three sets: 3/1 (Click Here to Bet with bet365)
