Elena Rybakina v Laura Siegemund Head to Head

Wimbledon champion Elena Rybakina has displayed very good form this season, but the World No. 25 heads to Slovenia following a disappointing U.S. Open campaign where she was knocked out by Clara Burel in straight sets in the opening round.
The 23-year-old Kazakh is 32-16 overall this season and will hope to quickly put the New York disappointment behind and be on top of her game in Portoroz.
Rybakina, who beat Ons Jabeur for her first major title at Wimbledon this year, was also a finalist in Adelaide this year, finishing runner-up to Ash Barty. In addition, she reached the quarterfinals in Indian Wells and Cincinnati.
A three-time winner on the tour from nine finals, Rybakina has won a title each on grass, clay and hard. But she has reached as many as six finals on hard courts, with her only success coming in Hobart in 2020.
The third seed is one of the contenders for the title here and is expected to start on a winning note.

Siegemund Struggling to Win Matches at the Tour Level
Facing Rybakina is World No. 173 Laura Siegemund. The 34-year-old German is 24-13 overall this season, but most of her success has come in lower level tournaments.
Siegemund won her 13th ITF singles title in Annenheim, Austria in June and quickly followed it by lifting her 14th ITF title in Portschach, Austria.
She is 18-4 on clay and 6-6 on hard courts. At the tour-level, she has a 3-6 record in main draw matches. Two of those wins came in Stuttgart where she was a quarterfinalist and one of them came in Cleveland when she lost in the second round.
Siegemund, who has won two doubles titles this year, has won two tour-level titles in her career from three finals, but the German has not reached a final since winning the title in Stuttgart in 2017.
