Selekhmeteva Hoping to Return To Winning Ways
Oksana Selekhmetova has posted a 26-16 record so far and she’s hoping to make that a bit better as she takes part in the Chennai Open. The draw was favourable and she gets a player that she should beat easily on this surface. The Russian is a 19-year-old emerging talent that does really well on hard courts.
Her record on the surface is 11-4 and she usually thrives in indoor conditions like these. An attacking playstyle should ensure that she has the upper hand in most rallies and it’s mostly going to come down to whether she is consistent enough in her level.
So far this year it’s been the case and a chance to enter the top 100 with a strong showing here should be a motivator for her. It’s been almost a month since her last victory so it’s time to break that negative streak and what better way than to do it here?

Terrible Stretch for Papamichail
Despina Papamichail lost the last five matches she played and her last win came in the Warsaw WTA qualifiers. The match was played on the 27th of July and since then it’s been mostly defeats and while some of those came against strong players, there were matches there that she could have won.
It’s not been that great of a season for her with a 24-30 record and her 2-7 record on hard courts is especially striking. She plays best on clay, it’s not a secret but still, with her rather aggressive playstyle, you would have expected more success on hard courts.
She’s been good on it earlier in her career so maybe she can rediscover something here but it’s unlikely. She will need a very good performance to take this one and I just don’t see it happening. Not with the current form and not on this surface.
Selekhmeteva v Papamichail Prediction and Tip
As I stated above it’s a match that is on the Russian’s racquet. If she delivers she should win comfortably. I’ll back her to do that but the rest is on her.
Tip: Selekhmeteva to win in straight sets: 1/2 (Click Here to Bet with bet365)
