Katie Swan v Nao Hibino Head to Head
Their only previous meeting came in the qualifiers of the 2018 US Open and Swan had won that encounter in straight sets.

Swan Continues with Lexington Form
Having featured in an ITF competition in the lead-up to the Chennai Open, Swan won the title there with a three-set win over Jodie Burrage.
And in what has turned out to be a continuation of the same form, Swan has now clinched back to back victories to reach the quarterfinals here.
It started with a 6-1, 6-2 rout of Arianna Hartono in the first round before Swan needed a bit of a respite in the first set against Anastasia Gasanova in her round two encounter. In the end, Swan prevailed 7-6 (5), 6-2 to make it to the last eight.
What makes these results ones to remember is this is the first time in Swan’s career she has won successive matches in the main draw of a WTA event. Can she stretch that record further to make it three in three?

Qualifier Hibino Showing Old Sparkle
Hibino needed to get through the qualifiers to make it to the main draw here, having fallen to outside the top 180 on the WTA Rankings. Which is a rather sad given the 27-year-old was once on the verge of breaking into the top 50 as well.
In more recent times, Hibino’s form has fallen away and even more since the pandemic break in 2020. Just prior to that, Hibino had won her second WTA title, coming in Hiroshima in 2019.
Here in Chennai, Hibino has shown the odd sparkle, registering four successive victories including a couple in the qualifiers, to make the last eight. She has dropped a mere 15 games across those four wins.
Can she show she is capable of a lot more and exhibit her old form again?
Swan v Hibino Prediction and Tip
Not surprisingly, it’s the experience of Hibino that makes her a favourite here as she begins at the odds of 7/10 to win it. We back the Japanese player to make the last four here.
Tip: Hibino to win: 7/10 (Click Here to Bet with bet365)
