Daniel Taro v Emilio Nava Head to Head

They played twice before with both matches happening this year. The score is 1-1.

Back To Tennis For Taro

After taking a short break after his US Open disappointment Taro is back to playing tennis. The stay in New York was brief as he lost fairly early in the first round to Richard Gasquet. He will try to do much better in San Diego but it’s a tricky draw against a native player in round one.

They played twice this year already so they know each other rather well. Taro won the first won earlier in the year but playing all year long paid off for Nava who was able to get the win in their second match. That one was rather recently and it was a close 3-set win.

Taro has a game mainly tailored for clay as he plays the majority of his matches on that surface but he generally plays very aggresive. That can sometimes work but also tends to build up errors quickly. His best is top 50 worthy but he rarely hits it. They should trade blows in this one consistently and if the Japanese player proves more consistent he’ll be in a good position to win the match.

Nava Hoping for Points

Emilio Nava plays wonderful tennis on American soil and he will try to use that advantage to score an important win. The American is not yet inside the top 150 and he’s still forced to play challengers and qualifiers. His life would be much easier if he could change that before the season ends.

Events like this in San Diego are a very good chance to do just that. The American is 13-11 on hard courts this year and played well in previous weeks. Two matches in the qualifiers here showed he’s looking good after the US Open and he’ll certainly have a chance in this one.

Taro is not a player that will scare him as he recently beat him in Winston-Salem. If he brings his signature aggressive play, he should be really good. The consistency is an issue but playing in front of native fans should give him a boost. As strange as it sounds the match is truly on his racquet.

Daniel v Nava Prediction and Tip

As I wrote above, the match is on Nava’s racquet. Taro will bring a solid level as he usually does but it’s on the American to take the match.

I think he can do it and I think he might do it. Either way, the best bet here would be to take the games because I could see this as a competitive one regardless of who wins.

Tip: Over 21.5 games in the match: 5/6 (Click Here to Bet with bet365)
