Hubert Hurkacz v Dominic Thiem Head to Head
There have been two previous matches between these two and Hurkacz has defeated Thiem both times.
Both matches came on hard court surfaces with the first at the Miami Open of 2019 and then in 2020 at the ATP Cup.

Looking back at the second half of the season, Hurkacz would be a trifle puzzled by his up and down performances after having started out with the kind of consistency one can expect from a top-10 player.
The Polish number one on the men’s circuit won his first title for this season in June – in Halle – but came up cropper at Wimbledon and Washington after that. He lost in round one at both those competitions.
He looked to have recovered from that at the Canadian Masters when he stormed into the final there at Montreal with wins over Nick Kyrgios and Casper Ruud but in the four matches that have followed since then, Hurkacz has lost three.
This has included a first round defeat at the Cincinnati Masters and a second round loss at the US Open.
He will hope to find that winning rhythm again as he aims to make the ATP Finals.

Thiem Eases Past Gasquet
Richard Gasquet has had the better of his exchanges with Thiem but on this occasion it was the struggling Austrian who came up trumps in their opening round encounter.
Thiem was on court for an hour and 48 minutes for his 6-3, 7-6 (3) thrashing of Gasquet as he continued with the form he had shown at the Rennes Challenger last week.
The finalist at that tournament, was broken once in each of the two sets, with Gasquet drawing first blood both times. In the opening set, Thiem retaliated with back to back breaks while in the second, he broke back and then clinched the encounter in the tie-breaker that followed.
This victory follows an opening round loss at the US Open for Thiem which would be bit of a relief as the former world number three looks to break into the top 100 on the ATP Rankings. Can he now clinch the biggest win since his return?
Hurkacz v Thiem Prediction and Tip
No surprises here on who the favourite is with Hurkacz starting out at 9/20 to get this but we think it might not be as straightforward as that. Sure, Thiem isn’t at his best but he seems to be getting his rhythm back and that could see him push the Pole into a third set.
