Marc-Andrea Huesler was beaten so routinely in his last outing at the San Diego Open by Daniel Elahi Galan, the Colombian clay-courter who stunned Stefanos Tsitsipas right out of the gate at the US Open.
That defeat extended Huesler’s winless streak to three matches on the ATP Tour, although he posted a singles win in the Davis Cup Group qualifiers.
His last meaningful tournament was at Winston-Salem just before the US Open. The Swiss lefty reached his second ATP semifinal as a qualifier, beating the likes Ilya Ivashka and Jack Draper before falling to Laslo Djere.
But surprisingly, he has won tallied two wins outside Winston-Salem in the main draw of tour-level events. That figure will certainly need to improve during the remaining part of the regular season to solidify his place in the world’s top 100.

Blancaneaux Overcomes Seppi to Qualify
Geoffrey Blancaneaux required a pair of three-setters to make it to the main draw of an ATP event for just the third time this season.
And for the second match in a row, he overcame a slow start before winning in three, beating Italian veteran Andreas Seppi 2-6 6-3 6-4 to reach the first round.
Blancaneaux lost both of his previous ATP matches this season and is winless in three tries during his career. However, he has excelled on the ATP Challenger Tour, where he has won 39 matches in two seasons, whilst making three semifinals and winning his solitary title in Maia last season.
Huesler v Blancaneaux Prediction and Tip
Against the backdrop of his recent display in Winston-Salem, Huesler should be able to grind out a victory here, but it won’t come easy against someone who has already beaten him this season.
