Novak Djokovic v Marin Cilic
We have a Balkan final in Israel as Djokovic takes on Marin Cilic. Many speculated whether this final could end up being the one and it did. Both of them played really strong tennis with Djokovic being particularly impressive. At times the Serbian looks like an alien that you can barely play while in others he looks like just another good tennis player.
He has had spectacular sets played and some lesser ones but it’s clear that his dozing his effort and picking his spots. He’ll play in Astana next week and that’s a hugely important event for him so he’ll try to preserve as much energy as he can.
Cilic had a solid event as well but the Croatian was not as spectacular as Djokovic this week. He can be because he is a very streaky player but Djokovic has all the tools to win this one. He can return well and negate the serve, he has the patience to negate the groundstrokes and he knows Cilic well so the weaknesses will be exposed.
Back the easy 2-0 win for Djokovic.
Tip: Djokovic to win in straight sets: 3/5 (Click Here to Bet with bet365)
H0lger Rune v Marc-Andrea Huesler
Holger Rune is looking at a very good chance to win his 2nd career trophy in Sofia as he takes on a player that has never played in an ATP singles final before. What could be troublesome for Rune is the fact that he faced Huesler earlier this year on clay and lost that match.
Both of the prefer clay more than hard courts but that was a very bad match from Rune in the middle of a losing streak that saw him not win a match in two months. He’s looking far better now and after all, beating Sinner in Sofia is something that nobody ever did before so think about that.
Rune has all the tools to win this match but the serve will be crucial. He cannot allow Huesler to outserve him in this one because that will give the Swiss confidence where his groundstrokes can come into play. Rune is far better from the baseline and he needs to show it.
I believe he will.
Tip: Rune to win: 8/15 (Click Here to Bet with bet365)
Anett Kontaveit v Barbora Krejcikova
Kontaveit and Krejcikova played twice so far in their career and both those matches were very interesting. Last year at the WTA Finals Kontaveit won in two sets but this year it was Krejcikova who won in Syndey. Both played really strong tennis this week and it’s hard to pick who was more impressive.
Krejcikova is finally back to her best and while she plays a strong hard court style, Kontaveit is the more natural fit on the service. The Estonian is also the more aggressive player but also far more prone to errors. The serve is good for both but Krejcikova is a bit more consistent with it.
Kontaveit is favoured to win because she is playing at home and that is a fair thing to point out. She will be very motivated and she’s been decent in finals before. So was Krejcikova so while I expect a competitive 3-setter I’ll back Kontaveit to get it done at home.
Tip: Kontaveit to win in three sets: 3/1 (Click Here to Bet with bet365)
