Kamil Majchrzak v Sho Shimabukuro Head to Head

This will be their first meeting.

Majchrzak Hopeful of More Success

Kamil Majchrzak had a very solid outing in Sofia last week as the Polish player reached the quarterfinal. He lost to eventual champion Marc-Andrea Huesler in a tight 3-setter. It was a match that he could have certainly won but ultimately he failed to produce the needed level in the crucial moments.

Playing in Japan will be a bit different than Sofia but it’s still hard courts. It’s still the surface that rewards his good serve and solid groundstrokes. The loss to Huesler stopped a 4-match winning streak for the Polish player who is looking solid as of recently.

The season hasn’t been a spectacular one as he won only 20 and lost 21 matches but he has a winning record on hard courts.

With the recent wins, he should also be confident in this one, especially as he faces a player who is ranked far below him.

Shimabukuro Makes it Through Qualifiers

The native Japanese did not receive a wild card intro into the event but rather had to earn it. He did just that by beating two compatriots and securing a place in the main draw.

It was two solid matches from Shimabukuro as he demonstrated that his ranking is not quite indicative of his tennis.

He’s not ranked high but he can certainly play tennis that is more closer to the top 100 than the top 300. He also took part in the Seoul qualifiers but lost in a tight match to Aleks Kovacevic who had a really strong week in the South Korean capital.

It’s been a good year overall for him with 34 wins and 20 losses so he can certainly give Majchrzak a rough time. The crowd should back him as well and he’ll look to add win number 31 on hard courts. Not having faced Majchrzak also favours him rather than his opponent.

Majchrzak v Shimabukuro Prediction and Tip

So this is a very interesting one and while I do think the native player should give Majchrzak some trouble I don’t think he can upset him.

Tip: Majchrzak to win in three sets: 3/1 (Click Here to Bet with bet365)
