Jaume Munar v Pedro Martinez Head to Head
While these two players have played each other just once on the ATP circuit, they have had five meetings across various levels and Martinez leads 4-1. This includes a win for Martinez in the 2022 Santiago Open on clay.

Munar Shocks Ruud
Munar had virtually no form coming into this tournament and he was up against the world number two, Casper Ruud. Add that to the fact that hard courts aren’t Munar’s favourite surfaces anyway and it wasn’t a surprise he was 4/1 underdog to surprise his opponent.
That Munar won in style, defeating Ruud 6-3, 6-3 in an hour and 36 minutes bears testimony to the fact he can put up a fighting showing when he gets his act together.
The Spaniard was off to a flying start against a rather insipid Ruud, racing off to a 5-1 lead before getting broken – it was the only time in the match Munar would drop his serve.
That did not matter too much as Munar picked up the set off his sixth set-point.
The second was easier, as Munar went 2-0 up very quickly, saved four break-points through the set and then broke Ruud again at 3-5 to wrap up the encounter. He will now aim to make his first set of successive wins on hard court surface since the Indian Wells Open.

Martinez Overturns Losing Sequence
The last time Martinez had won a match in the main draw of a tournament was way back in July. The last time he won a main draw encounter on hard court was in Miami in March.
Which is why a 7-5, 6-4 victory over the favourite, albeit struggling Alexei Popyrin would come as a huge relief for the 25-year-old Spaniard. It broke an eight-match losing sequence across all levels for Martinez.
In a match lasting an hour 46 minutes, Martinez overcame four break-points in the opening set and a 0-2 deficit in the second to find a way to the win.
He now takes on a bigger challenge of Munar but again might have a chance given his opponent’s lack of affinity towards hard court tennis.
Munar v Martinez Prediction and Tip
We think Munar will take the confidence from his win over Ruud to get himself a straight-set win.
Tip: Munar to win in straight sets: 11/10 (Click Here to Bet with bet365)
