Benjamin Bonzi v Thiago Monteiro Head to Head

The pair have played each other once before, and that was just two months ago in Winston Salem, Bonzi winning in straight sets.

Bonzi Reached Career High Ranking Earlier This Year

Like his opponent, Bonzi also reached a career high ranking earlier this year, although he has since fallen away a little.

He began the year strongly by reaching his first ATP semi-finals on home soil in Marseille, achieving his first win over a top 20  player, Aslan Karatsev, in the process.

Since then he has reached the last eight of tournaments twice – once on the grass of Mallorca, and then in Winston Salem.

He went on to win his first ever match at the US Open, before losing to Nick Kyrgios.

Subsequent to that, he lost all three of his Davis Cup ties playing for France, and then, at the Moselle Open, he was beaten in the second round by the Dane Holger Rune.

Double Challenger Tour Winner Monteiro

Monteiro has recently reached a career high ranking, in large part due to his form on the Challenger tour where he has won two events in three months, in Salzburg in July, and in Genoa in September.

That brought his career tally at that level to three, but it is of significance that all of his successes have come on clay. Like most South American players he finds it more difficult on other surfaces.

In fact, that defeat to Bonzi in Winston Salem was his best run in a hard court event in 2022 since Adelaide back in January.

Last week, he was beaten in the first round in Tel Aviv by the Spaniard Pablo Andujar.

Bonzi v Monteiro Prediction and Tip

Given his win over Monteiro in Winston Salem Bonzi will start favourite for this match, especially given that the Brazilian tends to enjoy his greatest successes on clay.
