Eugenie Bouchard v Kayla Day
A very interesting matchup will be played in the first round of the Guadalajara event when Eugenie Bouchard takes on Kayla Day. This is the biggest even all year Bouchard has played so it’s a great chance for her to win some much-needed points.
Day made it through the qualifiers and it’s been a very solid performance and some good wins. The young American is a player that will soon make her way to the top as she is proving that her tennis is good enough to win matches. Their lone clash came three years ago when Bouchard won in three sets.
I can certainly see a very similar thing happening here because Bouchard did play well since returning from injuries but she wasn’t overly impressive. Day can certainly keep this match close and even win due to her familiarity with the conditions.
Due to that, we’re going to recommend the over.
Tip: Over 20.5 Games: 5/6 (Click Here to Bet with bet365)
Madison Keys v Magda Linette
Madison Keys played really well in San Diego last week but she ran into a better player, Jessica Pegula, who proved better. Keys is fighting hard for a spot at the WTA Finals and she can technically still make it but she needs a deep run here to earn enough points to have a chance.
The draw was not easy for her as she faces a noted fighter in Linette who will give everything and make it complicated. Keys is favoured to win because she’s a better player overall and plays better on hard courts but don’t expect this to be a walk in the park.
It will be their first match so Linette could certainly surprise her opponent with some tricks. She is 34-27 this year and 19-14 on hard courts so she is more than capable of playing a very good match on hard courts. We do think Keys will win but we also think it’s going to be a proper fight.
Tip: Kasatkina to win: 3/4 (Click Here to Bet with bet365)
Barbora Krejcikova v Anna Kalinskaya
Another interesting match in round one of the Guadalajara Open is between the red-hot Barbora Krejcikova who just return to stardom with a win over Swiatek in Ostrava a week ago. The Czech player looked as best as she ever looked beating Swiatek in a very long and physical match and now she’s making a push for a good finish this year.
She played here last year and while she wasn’t brilliant she did enough to know the conditions and certainly should have an advantage over Kalinskaya who hasn’t played much lately and when she did, it wasn’t anything particularly strong.
They never played before so technically that should help Kalinskaya more but the way she plays makes this a terrible matchup for her. She likes to attack and trade blows on the baseline and that’s not going to go anywhere against the solid Krejcikova.
2-0 for the Czech.
Tip: Krejcikova to Win 2-0: 4/5 (Click Here to Bet with bet365)
