Caroline Wozniacki v Karolina Muchova Head to Head
The two ladies have never met before prior to this encounter.
Wozniacki’s Poor Start to the Season
The Danish No. 1 started her year as the World No. 3 but by the end of the January, she had dropped down to the 10th place. She had an eventful spell in Auckland and Melbourne, where she respectively lost in the second round and third round to Bianca Andreescu and Maria Sharapova.
This is a massive turnaround from her form at the same time, last year. She had a remarkable stint in the previous season, having won the Australian Open, St. Petersburg title, WTA Eastbourne, and the China Open.
Wozniacki also reached the fourth round at the Indian Wells and Italian Open. However, this year, she appears to be struggling with her form quite a bit although, it is still quite early in the season.
Muchova’s Second Main Draw Appearance
This is the second time this year that the 22-year-old Muchova has made it to the main draw in a professional competition.
She first achieved this feat in Melbourne, where she won the qualifiers but lost to Karolina Pliskova in the first round. This time around too, she won her qualifying matches without any major problems to set up the first round clash with Wozniacki.
Muchova has appeared in the final of 10 distinct ITF tournaments through her career of which, she has won only two. She made her Grand Slam main draw debut in the US Open last year as a qualifier, where she reached the third round after upsetting Garbine Muguruza. That was, without a doubt, one of the best performances of the young Czech.
Wozniacki v Muchova Predictions & Tips
Wozniacki has been in a poor form of late and that is something that Muchova can definitely take advantage of. It is not unheard for the top players to succumb to underdogs in early rounds, especially when they are struggling with their rhythm.
Nonetheless, the Dane will start this match as the favourite to win at 3/10 with Bet365.
