Marton Fucsovics has not played very good tennis this year and he saw his ranking drop quite a bit. Even the return to indoor tennis, which has been a very comfortable spot for him in the past, did not yield the results he had hoped to get.
His record is only 21-23 and that is far from what he generally produces on the tennis courts. Fucsovics also dealt with a lot of injuries and that certainly did not help but he did play some tennis recently. Unfortunately, it was rather bad tennis and he was unable to really be competitive against far worse players than Zhang.
I just don’t see him improving overnight, particularly on hard courts where he posted a 6-10 record so far. It’s also slow hard court where the ball bounces really high and Zhang has been superb all year on clay. It will be tough for the Hungarian.

Zheng Eyeing Upset
Zhizhen Zhang has played really solid tennis all year long and while the majority of his win came on the Challenger Tour, he is certainly good enough to play ATP Tennis as well. The record overall is 49-25 and he’s posted a winning record both on clay and hard courts.
The courts in Napoli are a strange mix of conditions that really resemble both surfaces. The ball bounces really high and makes rallies really long which is something that Zhang could use to his advantage. Having more raw power benefits Fucsovics a bit more but Zhang has played better in recent weeks.
Another thing that benefits Zhang is the fact that he actually played two matches in Napoli already. They weren’t the same courts but he’s in a better rhythm than Fucsovics who has not won a match in several weeks. There is just many things going the Chinese player’s way.

Fucsovics is the better player overall but he hasn’t played better tennis than Zhang recently. Due to that, I think there is real value in trying for the win on Zhang.
