Jessica Pegula v Maria Sakkari Head to Head
Things have been quite close between the two players. Sakkari leads 3-2, but she fell to Pegaula in their last meeting in the WTA 1000 Guadalajara final 6-2, 6-3.

World No. 5 Maria Sakkari is set to compete in the WTA Finals for the second consecutive season.
Last year, she made it as far as the semis before losing to Anett Kontaveit. It is yet to be seen how far she goes this time around, seeing that she is in the same group as Pegula, Aryna Sabalenka, and Ons Jabeur.
For what it is worth, the 27-year-old Greek has had a phenomenal season in 2022. She is 37-22, touched the career-high at the #3 spot, and reached four finals. Two of those were WTA 1000 events in Indian Wells and Guadalajara, while the others came in St. Petersburg and Emilia-Romagna.
With plenty of big wins also under her belt, Maria is ready to take on the field at Fort Worth in Texas.

Pegula in a Blazing Form
Jessica Pegula, newly-crowned World No. 3, could not have hoped for a better build-up to the WTA Finals.
Alongside Coco Gauff (who is in the opposite group), she is the home favourite to go the distance. And why shouldn’t she be? She won the Guadalajara Open Akron just one week ago after dismissing the likes of Elena Rybakina, Bianca Andreescu, Sloane Stephens, Victoria Azarenka, and Sakkari.
Apart from this, the 28-year-old also reached the quarterfinal in three of the four majors, the semis in Miami and Toronto, and the final in Madrid. All in all, she is 42-18 in 2022.
On the doubles circuit, she won five titles and was the runner-up in the French Open – owing to these feats, Pegula will also compete in the doubles draw of the WTA Finals with Coco Gauff.
Pegula v Sakkari Prediction and Tip
When stakes are this high, anything can happen. Calling a favourite here is difficult as both players are so evenly matched. Sakkari will eye revenge after that final defeat, while Pegula seeks to tap into the home advantage.
Expect a cracking affair.
