Caroline Garcia v Aryna Sabalenka Head to Head
The tally stands at 2-2 between them; Garcia got the last laugh when they met in the 2022 Cincinnati Open semifinal where she won in three sets. Sabalenka’s last win over the Frenchwoman came back in 2018.

Garcia in a Historic Final
It is only fitting that Caroline Garcia, who is the current World No. 6 following a remarkable season, finds her place in the trophy match of the year-end WTA Finals.
She started the tournament as the sixth seed and navigated a tricky bracket comprising the likes of Iga Swiatek, Daria Kasatkina, and Coco Gauff. Except for Swiatek, she defeated the other two players to make it to the semis.
In the final four, she went up against Maria Sakkari – who topped the Group Nancy Richey with a perfect record of three wins and zero set defeats.
Garcia was the underdog in that match, but she dismantled Sakkari 6-3, 6-2, in an hour and 16 minutes. Her superior experience was at the full display as she dished out 21 winners with a 77% first-service win rate.
With these wins, Caro is now 44-20 in 2022. Impressively, she turned her year around only in the second half after starting the season outside the top 60.
Her big wins include titles from Bad Homburg, Poland Open (where she beat Swiatek), and Cincinnati Open. In addition, Caroline reached her first-ever Grand Slam semifinal by dismissing the likes of Bianca Andreescu, Alison Riske-Amritraj, and Coco Gauff at the US Open.

Sabalenka Upsets Swiatek
Aryna Sabalenka, current World No. 7, made it to the semis after dismissing Ons Jabeur 3-6, 7-6(5), 7-5, in a gruelling three-setter. She finished second in the group with a set record of 4-3 and a game record of 36-37.
In the semis, she played Iga Swiatek and handed the Pole a rare defeat of the season. Aryna trumped Iga 2-6, 6-2, 6-1 in a little over two hours. Swiatek was not at her best as she committed a fair number of errors (26 to Sabalenka’s 19), thus allowing the Belarusian to capitalise on her mistakes quickly.
It also marks a good turnaround compared to her overall season, which may seem slightly underwhelming – at least by her standards.
With only two finals to her name – Stuttgart and Rosmalen Open – the 24-year-old made the cut for the WTA Finals only after reaching consecutive semifinals in Cincinnati and New York – followed by early exits in San Diego and Guadalajara.
At this stage, past records do not matter much, but for what it is worth, she does have an impressive pedigree which includes three major semifinals, 18 singles finals, and two Grand Slam doubles titles. Sabalenka is also a former #2.
Garcia v Sabalenka Prediction and Tip
Both players have also left in their wake a series of remarkable wins in Texas – with Sabalenka before World No. 2 Jabeur in the group. At the same time, Garcia dismissed the No. 1 Swiatek in the semis.
This match can go either way. Garcia has the advantage owing to her experience, but Sabalenka has repeatedly beaten several big guns on the tour.
