Fritz showed exemplary form all of the 2022 season, finishing it with three titles under his belt including his maiden Masters 1000 tournament win in Indian Wells.
The American was awarded for his solid show with a place among the top eight players at the ATP Finals, where he defeated Rafael Nadal and Felix Auger-Aliassime to reach the semifinals. And while Fritz lost to Novak Djokovic in the last four stage, he looked to have sent opponents a notice with his solid showing in the year.
And that form looked to have continued in the pre-season too when Fritz went on to win the Diriyah Tennis Cup with three successive victories.
He defeated Hubert Hurkacz to start things off before toppling Cameron Norrie and Daniil Medvedev to win the title. He should not have a lot of difficulties against a player ranked 81st in the world.

Lehecka One of the Next Gen Players
21-year-old Lehecka made his way to the Next Gen Finals at the end of the 2022 season and actually managed to enter the final there. His only two losses in the tournament came at the hands of Brandon Nakashima.
Unfortunately for Lehecka, his performances at the highest level weren’t the brightest in 2022 and his ranking fell to 81st in the world, a tad distant from his career-best of 59th.
Lehecka is still finding his feet at the highest level and there will always be room for improvement but the other factor that could work against him coming into this tournament is he is more of a clay-courter.
In fact he featured in only nine matches on outdoor hard court surfaces, winning not a single main draw match at the highest level. Can he put up a fight against Fritz?
